Her musical path began in California; after moving to San Francisco in 2000, Bettie began jamming with a lot of musicians from the vast wealth of local bands. ÒThey liked my ideas and began encouraging me to write my own songs.Ó After a particularly transformative experience at an Iggy Pop show, Bettie realized her destiny. ÒIggy had the wild self expression I always wanted for myself. I knew right then that music was the only thing for me.Ó
After graduating SFSU with a theater degree, she fronted several acclaimed bands in the SF club scene such as Glow and Runaway Bunny. This led to her first record, "Mega". Since then, she has continued to write innovative material, drawing from her daily experiences. ÒI feel like I have a channel within me that constantly sends me riffs and scraps of melodies.Ó
Bettie's music provides a backdrop to the universal heartache of healing the human condition. The darkness of her music is redeemed by the confidence and strength of her words. Her voice is a clear and present understanding of the struggle of the human spirit.
